Individual Nutrition Counselling

It can be a big step to start working with a dietitian 1:1. Especially if you are navigating an eating disorder, disordered eating, or have a history of feeling anxious around food.

As a Registered Dietitian and Certified Eating Disorder Specialist, my goal is to meet you where you are at while gently guiding you towards your vision of recovery (even if you don’t know what recovery “looks” like yet for you).

What nutrition counselling looks like

Together, during our private 1-hour zoom sessions, we’ll focus on understanding your current nutrition status, your lived experience, and what you’re hoping to move toward. Sessions are collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to you. My approach is not based on rigid meal plans or one-size-fits-all advice, but rather customizing a nutrition plan that we co-create together, at a pace that makes sense for you.

I support people who are:

- Working through an eating disorder or disordered eating, and/or
- Further along in recovery but feeling stuck or unsure how to move forward, and/or
- Wanting to heal their relationship with food and feel more grounded in their body, and/or
- Looking for support that is weight-inclusive, non-diet, and rooted in harm reduction

I use a non-diet, weight-inclusive approach with all clients, because I truly believe that all bodies are worthy of healing their relationship with food. Other approaches I pull from include harm reduction, trauma-informed care, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), and emotion focused therapy.

FAQs

  • No diagnosis or referral required! A formal diagnosis of an eating disorder is not required to work 1:1 with me for nutrition counselling. I believe anyone with a disrupted relationship to food deserves to get help, diagnosis or not.

As for referrals, you can self-refer simply by contacting me today or booking a free discovery call. If you have health insurance benefits that include dietitian coverage, you may require a referral from your family physician in order to receive coverage. I recommend checking with your specific insurance provider.

  • I offer an equity sliding scale to all clients - this means there are three different price points for individuals to choose from depending on their situation. Book your free discovery call to talk more specifically about your options and the equity sliding scale.

  • Many private insurance companies offer coverage for dietitian services. I recommend checking with your provider directly. Direct billing is available for many insurance providers! Book your free discovery call today to learn more.

  • Yes! I have direct billing to a wide range of insurance providers available, meaning if you have coverage, you don’t need to pay out of pocket. There is more information about direct billing and how to get this set up once you complete your free discovery call in some of the onboarding intake form.

  • As a weight-inclusive dietitian, I do not provide nutrition counselling specifically for weight-loss. This does not mean I’m anti-weight loss, it just means that the number on the scale will not be the main focus of our time together.

  • Being nervous to meet with a dietitian is super common, but it doesn’t have to be nerve-wracking. As an eating disorder dietitian, I believe in meet you where you are at with oodles of compassion and validation. During our sessions, I like to spend the first few minutes doing a general check-in and seeing how things have been going overall. We then may start to talk more about how your eating has been recently, and what has been helpful or unhelpful in reaching your goals. There is no judgment about what you’ve eaten, or haven’t eaten, or if you’ve made a change or not! I show up for my clients authentically and trust that you will too :)

  • I am based in Hamilton, Ontario in Canada. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, I have shifted from seeing individuals in-person to online indefinitely.
